(андеррайтер,гарант) 1. Лицо, которое определяет риск, выносит решение о целесообразности и возможности его страхования и, если может, рассчитывает величину требуемой страховой премии на основе частоты предъявления требований выплаты страховых сумм по аналогичным рискам в прошлом. Андеррайтеры либо работают в страховых компаниях, либо являются членами Ллойдса (Lloyds) (см. также: syndicate( синдикат)). Название “андеррайтер” восходит к временам первых шагов развития морского страхования, когда купец в качестве третьей стороны ставил свою подпись под суммой и деталями риска, который он соглашался покрыть. 2. Финансовый институт, как правило эмиссионный дом (issuing house) или торговый банк (merchant bank), который гарантирует приобретение части непроданных акций при публичном размещении нового выпуска (new issue). Гаранты, как правило, работают за комиссию (обычно 2%) и могут объединяться для покупки всех непроданных акций при условии, что минимальная часть объявленного в проспекте (prospectus) выпуска будет реализована по подписке широкой публике.
